When can boys start lifting weights?

According to this article, boys should be lifting heavy things (relative to their size) from an early age, as part of natural male development. But they don’t have to lift weights to get the strength benefit of lifting heavy things. Alternative ways for boys to build natural strength as they get older include fun adventurous activities like rope climbs, rock walls, fireman poles, monkey bars and rings.
