Gingers beware: a new study published in Nature shows that those with light skin, eyes, and red hair have an increased risk of developing the most deadly form of skin cancer. Researchers have linked melanoma with the two types of pigment responsible for determining hair, eye, and skin color and found those with the lighter pigment, pheomelanin, are more susceptible to skin cancer regardless of UV exposure.
