Lions, Wolves, And Bears Escape Ohio Exotic Animal Farm; Owner Found Dead

Authorities armed with assault rifles have been patrolling areas near a 40 acre Zanesville, Ohio animal preserve located 55 miles east of Columbus after dozens of “mature, very big, and aggressive” animals escaped their cages. The preserve’s late owner, Terry Thompson, is suspected of leaving the cages of wolves, bears, camels, lions, giraffes, tigers, and cheetahs unlocked and possibly committing suicide on Tuesday, October 18, 2011. Officers have deferred to Jack Hanna, owner of the Columbus Zoo, for assistance in rounding up the animals and protecting nearby residents.
