Researchers from the University of Manchester and the Medical Research Council have found that the only difference between guilt and shame is how quietly you voice your pain. They found the things depressed people carry take a heavy toll, even when they aren’t responsible for the things they haven’t done, thanks to brain mechanisms and stress.
