Mark Barone, a Louisville, Kentucky, artist, has dedicated his skills to increase awareness and use his art as advocacy. He wants people to learn more about no-kill animal shelters and has taken to painting portraits of each animal destined to be euthanized at regular shelters – a figure numbering as high as 5,500 dogs per day in the U.S. See the memorial pics here with Artist Immortalizes 5,500 Shelter Dogs By Painting Each Of Their Portraits Before They Are Put Down.
